Garden House on a Hill
This garden house on a hill features a terraced scheme with an ‘upper’ and ‘lower’ house connected by a ‘vine stair hall’. Walls and roofs are made of steel mesh with shed roofs mimicking the existing house and marching down the hill as elegantly as possible. The planters’ gabion walls are filled with Stanford sandstone quarried on-site. The garden houses changes throughout the day – light, shadow, form, temperature, smell. And grows with the seasons. Nourishing a family that is growing, too.
